Tuesday and Wednesday were Parent/Teacher Conferences. This was really the first time that we’ve had a chance to meet with parents of our students. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a very good turn out. On Wednesday, we received parents from 3 of our students and on Thursday it was the same. Not a very productive Parent/Teacher Conference.
On another note, we do have internet in our apartment now. It’s been a very interesting experience. Once we got everything straightened out with setup we had to contact our installer. Let me tell you, the installation guy here is a very “hands off” kind of installer. After our first visit with him he told me that I had to get the wire out and string it because he didn’t want to do it. There isn’t really anything I can do or say because he’s the only installer in the village. If he doesn’t want to do it, he doesn’t have to. Crazy. So, he gave me the wire and Kait and I got things going. Yesterday, Saturday, I helped Kaitlyn into the attic of our apartment so that we could find a place to drill a whole to get the wire outside. Once she got up there, she realized that we wouldn’t be able to do what we planned because there are fire partitions in the attic and we couldn’t actually get to the exterior walls. It didn’t really matter anyway, because once we found a way to drill a whole in the exterior wall we realized that the exterior walls were about 8 inches deep and I don’t have a drill bit that long. To make a long story short, we did find a place to get the wire out and it’s all hooked up. It’s a little bit slow, but not too bad. We can’t stream any movies or video really, but we can surf the net and get email. We can also post to this website, which is so much better than going to the school each Sunday to use their internet. See ya next week.
